Barcodes are a series of wide and narrow bars that can be scanned. There are many different types of barcodes, the most common being Universal Product Code. Scanning these can bring it up in the POS system for instance when you shop for an item at your nearest mall. As a manufacturer of barcode gift cards, we apply barcodes to membership cards, ID cards, loyalty cards, and custom key tags.

Barcode Card Types

Code 39: Capable of encoding uppercase letters A-Z; digits 0-9; and special characters such as SPACE, minus (-), period (.), dollar sign ($), slash (/), percent (%) and plus (+). This barcode can be of any length, but the more characters encoded, the larger the symbol will be.
Example: AZ1001

Code 128: This is an alphanumeric symbol capable of encoding digits 0-9, upper and lowercase letters A-Z, and all standard ASCII symbols. Code128 is variable length—the more characters, the larger the barcode symbol will be on the finished plastic card.

Code 93: Capable of encoding the exact same characters as normal Code 39 barcode cards; uppercase letters A-Z; digits 0-9; and special characters such as SPACE, minus (-), period (.), dollar sign ($), slash (/), percent (%), and plus (+). The only difference is that this barcode symbol is more compact.

UPC-A: This fixed-length, numeric-only symbol must contain 12 digits. The first eleven digits are supplied by the customer. The twelve “check digit” is a calculated number based on the preceding numbers.
Example: 100250034675

EAN_JAN-13: This fixed length, numeric-only symbol is similar to the UPC-A, but encodes 13 characters instead of 12.

EAN_JAN-8: This fixed-length; numeric-only symbol is a compressed version of the UPC-A. All bar code cards must contain 6 digits and because the UPC-E is used for the number system, all symbols must begin with a zero.

UPC_E: This fixed-length; numeric-only symbol is a compressed version of the UPC-A. All barcodes must contain 6 digits, and because the UPC-E is used for the number system zero, all symbols must begin with a zero.

Security: RFID has long been used as an electronic key to control who has access to office buildings or areas within office buildings. The first access control systems used low-frequency RFID tags. RFID tags can also be combined with motion sensors so that when objects are moved without authorization, an alarm is sounded. RFID tags can be put on laptops and files containing sensitive documents to make sure they are not removed from a building without authorization.

Sequential Numbering: We can create barcodes chronologically without issue as long as we are provided with the first starting number. Random Numbering: Using just a spreadsheet file (e.g. Excel, CSV) our manufacturing service can create bar code cards using the human readable numbers you provide us with.

Apart from other manufacturers, we can thermal print any barcode onto your card which can be useful if you already have cards printed including barcode membership cards and gift or plastic barcode cards

The FSEA study, which researched the impact of high-visibility enhancements on shelf presence, found that drawing attention with packaging enhancements, such as foil stamping, is critical when trying to ensure a product stands out on a crowded supermarket or retail shelf

Magnetic Stripe Encoding

The dark strip labelling that you see on the back of gift cards, loyalty cards, membership cards, and coupon cards are known as a 'Magnetic Stripe'. Alongside a POS system, these plastic cards with the aid of the magnetic stripe are also used in access control. They come in two main varieties: high-coercivity (HiCo) and low-coercivity (LoCo).

High-coercivity magnetic strips are difficult to erase, meaning it is more suited for cards that are frequently used on a daily basis. Low-coercivity magstrips are less expensive due to the smaller amount of energy required to keep it sustained, meaning it is more suitable for a card that does not get used as often. Gift cards, loyalty cards, fundraising cards, coupon cards and membership cards typically utilize a LoCo magstrip. A magnetic stripe card reader can read either type of magnetic stripe.

Spot UV

Spot UV printing comes from ultraviolet light that's utilized to make a shiny smooth spot on logos while the rest of the card uses a simple matte finish. Such design creates a spotlight attention on the print, bringing the customer’s attention to a specific highlighted areas of the design. These reasons are all a testament as to why it is a good application for business cards. A spot UV varnish coating can only be on cards with a matte finish. Spot UV card make a huge initial perception, particularly when integrated with plastic card product. Thermal Printing

Variable data, such as sequential or random numbers, contact information, and barcodes are all generally thermal printed. Variable data printing using the thermal process can only be done if there is an overlay finish on the cards (not available on matte finishes). If the cards have a UV coating, then thermal printing cannot be done. We can thermal print in black at no additional charge. However, there is an additional charge for silver or gold. Thermal printing in black on a dark background is not as visible as thermal printing on a lighter background. When black thermal printing is desired on a dark card, we can also add a white background behind the area that will be thermal printed.

Inkjet Plastic Card Printing

This type of variable data printing is used mainly on special die cut cards. We use inkjet printing because we cannot thermal print the information on cards that are a unique size.
